Party on the Block! With the Sac Valley AIDS Run Walk is your chance to get involved and do something to stop the HIV/AIDS pandemic and, at the same time, help someone infected or affected by the virus. You’re at this Website and that means you already have passion. That’s what it takes to raise money. Passion about the cause.

Couple that passion with a few of the following suggestions and you will be successful at raising money for the Sac Valley AIDS Run Walk – and making your mark toward stopping the spread of this insidious disease. Raising money and turning up in droves will keep HIV/AIDS front and center.

First, you need to start a team or donate to an existing team. This is also your opportunity to designate the non-profit agency of your choice that you want to receive the money you raise.

Then, engage your family and friends. Talk with them about why you want to become involved with Capital City AIDS Fund (CCAF), the non-profit putting on the run/walk. Talking points could include:

  • CCAF has raised and given away $2-million to HIV/AIDS non-profit service providers in the Sacramento region
  • Educating the public is important. CCAF has an aggressive education and prevention campaign that distributes 10,000 free condoms a month
  • CCAF is the only Northern California non-profit providing college scholarships to young people living with HIV/AIDS
  • The community relies on the money and awareness raised by CCAF

AIDS Walk/Run Fundraising Suggestions:

  • Have a fundraising party before the party – ask a friend or relative to provide food and drinks for a gathering or a pizza place or sandwich shop if they’ll donate food
  • Ask your church to help you raise money
  • Hold a rummage sale
  • Build a team at your work place – there’s a party on the block September 18th!
  • Ask your employer if they have a program for matching the dollars you raise
